Jessica and Jason

I was beyond excited to capture this amazing couple tie the knot. I met Jessica and Jason through our church right after they got engaged. I was able to watch them plan and stress over their big day. In the end Jessica said the stress was all worth it. Congrats to a lifetime of love, I am excited to see you grow in marriage and life.

Tips for Your Family Photoshoots

I love photographing families, being able to capture candid moments between everyone. Usually before the photoshoot I get a lot of questions about what to wear, where to shoot and what to bring.  So here are a couple of suggestions to help you make the most out of your family shoots.

Clothes: Solid colors is always best. Stay away from strong patterns. It’s also good to mismatch colors. Not everyone in the family should wear one color like black. Mix in up, maybe black, white, blue and gray.

Props: A couple of props is great, just don’t over do it. You want the photographer to focus on your family and not so much on your props.

Young Children: Make sure to nap and feed them before the photoshoot, and maybe even bring a couple treats along the way. It also helps to bring something that makes them smile perhaps a stuffed animal or toy that way the photographer can hold it up.

Location: Pick somewhere that relates to your family. Something that you love or that your familiar with.

And most importantly, be yourself. Have fun, interact with one another and enjoy each other. The family below comes from an artsy background. I love the setting we choose for their photoshoot. It really brings out their personalities, it’s something they can relate too. Please enjoy and be sure to like us on Facebook and follow my personal account on Instagram for more fun images.

The Flag- A Mini Series

In honor of the Fourth of July I did a mini series with the American Flag. The flag has so much power. Our flag symbolizes our freedom, our country, all that was done and all that continues to be done. I am so thankful to live in this country. Thank you to those that fought and continue to fight for this country, to those that serve and their families that give up so much. Happy Birthday America.

The Fredrick’s a Photo Series

Yesterday I was able to spend some time with my sister Meme, niece Cady, and nephew Theo. I cherish them so much. They are some of the most generous and humblest people I know. Their family is truly a gift from God. Here are a few shots of an ordinary day in the life of the Fredrick’s. All of these were shot with my new camera the Canon 6D and my 50mm 1.8 lens. P.S. I love detail shots.

Gods Plans Are Far Better Than Ours

So about six months ago we were on a house hunt. We moved in with my parents and we determined to save all we could to buy a house. Everybody told us it would be a long process but little did they know we would go into escrow on our first bid. Things were going smooth. The house was definitely a fixer upper but we were excited.  We were days away from closing and then the deal fell through. I was kinda sad. I’m not going to lie, I shed a couple tears.

But then God answered.

Something with that house didn’t seem right and God definitely didn’t want us to settle. He opened up a new door. A loft to be exact. Our home is currently an art studio loft in Ontario, CA. We love our new place. We’re part of a community at the Emporia Colonies that opens up our home every other month to host an art walk. January was our first month. Check out some of my work below as well as my husbands. My husband and I definitely feel like were in the right place in life. We are both able to grow and explore as artists. Thank God that his plans are far better than ours. Maybe one day we’ll own a house; regardless, I can careless. I know God is in control.

Jonah’s Birth

This Wednesday night, April 24th at 10:01 p.m. my nephew Jonah David Duran was born. The waiting room was full of family and friends excited to meet our new family member. There is something about birth that triggers excitement like no other. This excitement is so worthy. A child’s born! A child, the whole process is amazing, truly truly amazing! A newborn is proof of Gods brilliance.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb” Psalm 139:13.

My hope is that every child can have the same excitement that Jonah received into the world. It breaks my heart that Gods amazing gift of birth is not treasured by all. We love you Jonah, may you know you are loved by your true father and creator, Jesus.
